about the rebbe mat

The Rebbe Mat was created by an artist for artists in mind.

You’ve probably heard that necessity is the mother of invention. Well, the Rebbe Mat is no exception. The Rebbe Mat was created by founder, Robyn Rebbe, a LA based tv/film IATSE 706 Journeyman makeup artist and licensed esthetician to meet her needs. Robyn routinely found these to be a pain: using a new set up towel everyday wasteful, keeping the makeup station looking clean while working, packing down the entire station in the trailer every night on location, and having a station mat that traveled well.

Robyn needed a product that was:

  • hygienic

  • easy to clean and disinfect

  • easy to maintain

  • would stay in place.

There should have been a simple solution for those issues but Robyn couldn’t find one. She got creative and set about making the Rebbe Mat. Sure, the Rebbe Mat needed to be easy to clean and stay in place, but why couldn’t it also be attractive and show an artist’s individual flair? So what started out as a simple idea, bloomed into the rainbow of options you see today.
